My Active Toddlers Day

I am blessed with beautiful healthy baby girl who recently turned TWO. We all know how much fun toddler can be from there babbles to sloppy kiss to the non stop drama. Her general day looks like this- She wakes up 6.30-7.00am, she wants to drink milk as soon as she wakes up I give about 6-7oz. I get organic 2% milk. We get her ready for daycare by 7.30 rain or shine. We drop her around 8am at daycare where she gets different kind corn flakes everyday. Some packed with sugar some regular plain. On weekends we give her better choices- eggs boiled or scrambled , home-made pancakes, or every now and then muffins or donuts.

Sometimes she just wants fruits and I’m ok with that.

She plays for two to three hours and is ready for nap, her naps are usually 1-2 hours. I give her lunch as soon as she wakes up. Her lunch options are rice with daal and saag or veggies/ pasta with boiled veggies and chicken/ mac n cheese with steamed broccoli/ roti with veggies/ cheese quesadilla/ fried rice/ chicken nuggets with fries/ pizza my last ace card on days. When she hasn’t ate anything for day or two is maggie.  Please don’t judge me but there are some days you just wish your kid eats something and that something could be anything.

After lunch we play do anything that needs to be done. Around 2-3 I give her snacks. Yogurt, fruits, veggie chips, chips, apples sauce, cheese stick, nuts. I’m a firm believer of if you are active you will get hungry. If she is super active in afternoon I give her another snacks or 5-6oz milk. I make her dinner ready by 7pm my dinner options are pretty much same as lunch and occasionally I would give her momo if we are having it for dinner. After dinner we let her play for another 20-30 minutes and get ready for bed. I usually give her 5-6oz of milk before bed. She falls asleep by 8-8:30. We all stress on healthy food but it is close to impossible to stick to our own plans.

Before daycare started my daughter would eat healthy and only healthy but then came time where I would be happy if she ate 3 spoons of maggie. I think what is important is to introduce all kinds of food from an early age. Give them same food couple of times so they would let you know if they like it or not. I got lucky because my sister took care of Aarvi for 10 months I was able to experiment all kinds of food on her. Her jaulo was packed with veggies like carrots, green beans, potatoes, spinach. Her snacks would be fruits like berries, banana, avocado, apple. I think more than portion we need to focus on variety. Introduce as many kinds of food as you can.
